The St. Dominic Altar Server Ministry prepares Catholic boys and girls to participate in bringing to its fullness the sacred liturgy by assisting the priest and deacons during the liturgy.

The Altar Server Ministry promotes in its servers an understanding and life-long appreciation of the sacred liturgy, and fosters vocations to the priesthood, permanent diaconate, religious orders, and consecrated life. 

This ministry is available to children in fourth grade and up who have received their First Eucharist and First Reconciliation. Training will be provided and a candidate must have participated in three training sessions prior to serving at Mass.  Once trained, altar servers must commit to the following:

• Must be willing to serve regularly.
• Must be willing to attend ongoing training.
• Must have a neat and well-groomed appearance, and adhere to the altar server dress code.
• Must fill out and submit a Consent for Media Release for Minors form (LINK)

DRESS CODE:

• Clothing – White shirt (or blouse for girls), black or dark pants. Girls may wear skirts of a modest length, but not too long as to avoid tripping. Shirts may be button-up or polo; boys may wear a white undershirt while wearing the alb. Blue Jeans, beach attire, gym clothes, and T-Shirts are NEVER to be worn at Mass. Such clothing is not appropriate dress for serving at the altar.
• Shoes – Dress shoes should be worn, preferably black or brown for boys, and close-toed black or white for girls. Tennis shoes, sneakers, flip flops and sandals are never permitted at the altar.
• Hair –should be neat and trimmed, appropriate for boys and girls. Girls with long hair should have it tied back from the face so as to reduce the risk of being accidentally burned by candle flames.
• Jewelry – Do not wear anything that will make noise, be distracting, or that will cause you to have any problems serving. Girls may wear appropriate earrings.
